Ace your CBSE Class X Maths Exam

Some Useful Tips & Tricks to Help You Ace your CBSE Class X Maths Exam

Treat the NCERT Text book as the Bible!

Remember that the board exam is always based on the NCERT book.

Look at the weightage of marks given to each topic and spend time revising accordingly while revising chapter-wise.

Make a list of all formulae which you find difficult to remember on a big sheet (use coloured pens) and paste it in your room in a place where you can look at it while relaxing. That way, you will memorise them easily in no time.

Make a list of all theorems that you need to prove and make sure to write them down at least once before the day of your exam.

If you have finished chapter-wise revisions from the NCERT textbook and have practised from other reference books, this is a good time to start doing as many sample papers and board papers from previous years (available on the internet on various CBSE sites).

It is very important to do these under exam conditions, that means to sit for a period of 3 hours without any distractions, and attempt a paper. This will teach you to manage your time during the exam.

Never study maths continuously! Take short breaks and listen to music, go for short walks, or talk to a friend in order to unwind.

Now that you have only a few days left for the maths exam, do not stress!

Remember that you have other subjects to do as well. So be sure to make a timetable to manage your time better!

Some amount of anxiety is natural but do not stress out too much as it will not help.

Last and most important, have faith in YOURSELF! Study hard and put in your best effort.

You never know, you may step out of the exam hall and say: “It was easier than any school exam I ever took!”

Good luck!

From all of us at the Mathematical Sciences Foundation, here’s wishing you the very best for all your exams (and especially for your maths exam). 🙂

Things to keep in mind when you see your mathematics question paper:

  • There will be 15 minutes of reading time. There will be internal choice for some questions in all sections of the paper.  Utilise the reading time to decide which one of the choice questions you will do.
  • Attempt that section which you feel you know the best first.
  • If you get stuck for too long on a question, leave space for it and move to the next one. Remember that you have 180 minutes to do 30 questions and that the 3 and 4 mark questions require more time. So, keep track of the time!
  • In geometry questions, where figures are not given, you must draw proper neat figures on your answer sheet with a pencil.
  • Make a rough column on every sheet.
  • Be neat with your work- avoid over writing. It is better to cut the whole line/number and write again than to write over it.
  • Show all steps as you would do in class. There are marks for the steps as well.
  • Underline all answers.
  • If you wish to redo a question at the end, remember to cancel off the first attempt clearly.
