#5MinutesofFrame

A smartphone filmmaking challenge where participants were invited to submit films of just 5 minutes’ duration

The Internet College is dedicated to promoting innovative talent in all forms. The #5MinutesofFrame Smartphone Filmmaking Challenge aims to bring forward this concept through the mode of Smartphone Filmmaking.

Everyone can be a filmmaker and the smartphone is a perfect tool – compact, and always with us – to get started. This was the idea that we wanted to spread through this event.

Smartphones are changing the world as we know it. We are documenting our lives almost every day by uploading pictures online and even more so through stories and live videos.

The idea behind #5MinutesofFrame 2019 was to encourage and fund promising talent by enabling the use of a democratic medium.

We sought entries via social media platforms and we received many creative films as entries that touched upon various issues of social relevance, such as gender and sexual identity, women empowerment, mental health and the ever increasing role of Artificial Intelligence in today’s day and age.

The shortlisted films were screened at the prestigious India Islamic Cultural Centre, New Delhi, followed by a jury panel discussion and award ceremony (Top 3 Films, Best Actor and Actress, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Script, Emerging Talent and many more).
